I Was Here Book Review
I Was Here by Gayle Forman is about a person whose best friend killed herself. The remaining one narrates the aftermath of the decision, and how it impacts and affect the lives of everyone related to the dead person.
It is a sad story. Cody is not a likable girl, but when Meg killed herself, we get to see how she also doesn’t like herself too.
Suicide is always sad, but for the one who does it, it may be the best thing happens to them after a long time. Remaining one could say million of things, but the point is that you cannot prevent it.
You cannot recognize it, even if your best friends, brother or any close person going through it. You get to know about how sad they were after they die, and you look into their life. There is no privacy to a dead person, and when those curtains fall, you see the mess.
And maybe, for a moment, you could rationalize their decisions. Cody went through Meg’s life to find out why she does it. Why she never see it happening and she really discovers some shocking truth.
Gayle Forman is a marvelous writer, and the way she handles the topic is astonishing.
