Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott | Book Review

I tried Stealing Heaven after reading Living Dead Girl.

After I enjoyed the Living Dead Girl, I started Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott. I liked it too.

The story was good. Enjoyable. Like a Ferris Wheel. A great ride.

This type of book, you would like to take on the road trip. So you can read an easy read.

It is like reading Amber in the World of Shades but better.

The conversation between Dannie and Greg are hilarious.

Dani replies every time with a question.

And Greg is like…

“Because when I first saw you I thought─no, I knew─you were special. Because I still think that every time I look at you. Because I think you’re smart and funny and brave. But most of all,” he grins at me─ “because I like questions.”

Little bit of Story

So there is Dani who is stealing things from always with her mother.

Her mother and Father were the partners in crime and then father gets busted.

Mother and daughter steal together. And then they leave town.

My name is Danielle. I’m eighteen. I’ve been stealing things for as long as I can remember.

They reach to Heaven where Dani become more socially comfortable than usual.

She starts Stealing Heaven, not the money, but the friendship.

Then she accidentally tells her real name to a person. A cop. Greg. He wants to talk to her and started liking her.

Made of Stars by Kelley York is a love story on the same road and you can enjoy it with this one.

Stealing Heaven Quotes

Love Upbringing

And Dani just trying to restricting herself.

One day when she found out that she and her mother are going to steal the house of her only friends in town.

But she listens to her mother.

This time they get arrested by police. Some acquisition and a refund. But they do not go to prison. But after that Dani leave stealing.

The end of Stealing Heaven is ralaxing.

Everything does not go right or go dramatic.

Estelle writes in her review :

But you are rooting for Danielle to make the right decision and realize just how much unhealthy power her mother has had over every aspect of her life

But simply Dani start dating Greg and college and leave stealing things.

With her mother, she settled down in Heaven.

Things… well, things suck sometimes. And sometimes you can fix it. And sometimes you can’t. It’s just the way it is.

This is a fan made of course..

Characters

Every character is reasonable and fun to read.

Dani and Greg are great. Dani is best. Greg is amazing.

And their conversations are funny. Dani’s mum is nice. Not bossy or rude. A loving mother.

Dani is also a good daughter. Everything is lovely and a good book to read.

As Megan puts it in her review.

Elizabeth Scott’s Stealing Heaven is a lukewarm novel about a young woman’s struggle to let go of the complicated, dangerous life her thoughtless mother has created for her.

Not a deep philosophical shit, but a light story.

Comparison between Living Dead Girl and Stealing Heaven

This is inevitable, how much I try. Let it be over.

If you have not read the Living Dead Girl, stay away. Not only from this para, but from that book too.

The Living Dead Girl is a book that terrified me.

Before that, I never believed that book have that much power, Living Dead Girl is not for sweet-heart readers.

The book is about child abuse, and from the child’s point of view. To make matters worse, the narration is the first PoV.

There is a difference of three hell between the subjects of these two books.

Living Dead Girl is a sad, abusive story while the Stealing Heaven by Elizabeth Scott looks more like a recovery story.

In Stealing Heaven, the narrator is free to take decisions and only bound with the invisible rope, in Living Dead Girl, the girl is locked with a chain of fear.

But there is a similarity, both the books talk about how a girl is living under a shadow until an outsiders make her realize that she can make decisions for herself.

Finally

I recommend both the books. I enjoyed both.

However the subject matter of both books is as different as black and white, but Elizabeth Scott is an interesting author.
